Traditional graduation ceremony includes the marching to Pomp & Circumstance, who inspired music when he got Honorary Doctor of the Music degree in 1905. Princeton also followed with music in 1907 and soon, tradition caught on throughout country. Mortarboard and gown have long history, and dating back to the medieval clergy & European universities. At 1895, the American institutes formed Intercollegiate Commission that standardized academic dress. Now, the students march in an auditorium wearing graduation cap and gown as well as marching to Pomp & Circumstance.
Graduation Ceremony
No matter whether it is the high school or else the college graduation, faculty generally marches in the gymnasium or else auditorium ahead of graduating class.
