Farewell My Friends?

June 2, 2010 · No Comments · Uncategorized

“Farewell to you my friends, we’ll see each other again. Don’t worry coz’ it’s not the end of everything.”

This was a line in the song that we have sung on our graduation day. Hearing it played on the radio today brings back a lot of memory. This song is one of the favorite graduation songs because it assures you and your friends who will not be going with you in the same school, especially if you are leaving Preschool, Elementary or High School, that there will always be time for you to see each other again. Nowadays, with the advent of technology, we can really still see each other again without being at the same place.

So, maybe when you were still wearing that preschool graduation gown and caps, Internet was not yet invented so when you were about to throw your cap, you have to believe in that song and sing it wholeheartedly. Well, I do not have something against the song but right now, for most of the kids in this generation, it sounds mushy. The song is still one of my favorites because whether there is Internet or not, it shows how important friends are. Call me sentimental but it is me and I like the song the way it is.

Yes, this graduation song that we have sung way back in Preschool brings back good memories, especially the times that I have to throw my cap the first time. It also gives me the picture of how odd we look like in our preschool graduation cap and gowns. Well, to date, those kinds of outfits worn, the said caps and gowns we have to wear looks really odd but at that time, it was considered as one of the best. Also, I can still recall how graduation stole some of my playtime, but it was still fun just being with my friends and playmates practicing. I had not minded at all how much of my playtime was taken away by graduation because I was enjoying what I was doing. Also, I think my parents felt that stole some of their money, but they had just let it pass as they are one of those people who would love to see me graduate. Parents will always be parents. They will always be supportive in preparing and choosing the best graduation outfit, there is and will give you some surprise treat after the exercises.

Well, this is just one of those fond memories that this song allows me to think over. Sometimes, this song makes me teary-eye because I have lost track of my dear friends after throwing that cap, but I know I can still get in touch with them. I know it is not too late to do it and organize our reunion some day. Again, it is still not the end of everything, right? As mentioned above, there is Internet now, and I can always try to check on my sources or Google them. So, good luck hunting for me then.
